Did you know we have superheroes in our school? We have kids who perform great acts of kindness every day, who make the right choices when they are playing with their friends, and who use their super ears to listen to their teachers and parents. And we have amazing teachers who take the time to comfort a child who has skinned their knee, encourage a student who is struggling with a concept, and who takes the time to pray for each of their students on a daily basis. Our heroes may not shoot webs or use a golden lasso, but they are spectacular in so many other ways.

The Bible, in Psalm 34:14b, commands us to depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. I would encourage you to take a moment and think: how you seek and pursue peace in your own life? How do you demonstrate goodness to your family, co-workers, or even strangers in the grocery store? And how do our children reflect that back to us? We should all strive to show our children a super attitude, one that reflects love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Next week we will be celebrating superheroes from all walks of life and learning how we can become superheroes, too. We’ll be making slime, meeting a superhero from our community on Wednesday, and going through superhero training all week long! On Friday, we invite all of our students to dress up in their favorite superhero outfits (or make their own!) to mark the end of our special week. Parents are also welcome to send in treats on Friday for our party; please speak to your child’s teacher about class allergies.
